Easter Traditions

The so called Lent and Easter traditions otherwise known as holy week is NOW AROUND US THIS VERY WEEK, thereby a lot of people all over the world blindly follow these traditions without lifting their fingers to examine whether these traditions have biblical foundation. However, if only these blind followers of these traditions will just do a little research in their own internet they will find out that “lent and Easter” are purely traditions of men and without biblical basis.
If they have a little more time they can also make a little research in their holy bible and they will find out that our Beloved Lord Jesus Christ clearly stated that He will be crucified by evil men and will die and on the third day he will rise again. Please see Matt. 16:21; 17:22-23; 20:17-19; Mark 8:31; 9:31; 10:33-34; 15:42-46; Luke 9:22 18:33;
Meanwhile in one occasions some doubting scribes and Pharisees asked a sign from our Lord Jesus Christ Matt:12:38: “Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. Matt:12:39: But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: Matt:12:40: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Our beloved Lord Jesus Christ compared His death to that of the prophet Jonah where the prophet Jonah died and remained inside the huge fish three days and three nights. “Jonah 1:17: Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.”
How long our Lord Jesus Christ will remain in the grave like that of Jonah? The Lord Jesus Christ Himself provided the answer. “Johh:11:9: Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. John:11:10: But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.” Clearly, according to our Lord Jesus Christ there are twelve hours and the light part of the day so with the night, there are also twelve hours. In fact during the creation week we can know for sure that a day is composed of day and night or twenty four hours. Gen:1:5: And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Gen:1:8: And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. Gen:1:13: And the evening and the morning were the third day. According to the Bible a day consists day and a night and that one day is composed of twenty four hours.
Traditions of men told us that our Lord Jesus died and was buried on Good Friday and was resurrected early morning of Easter Sunday. Now can we get seventy two hours from Friday before sunset burial and early Sunday morning resurrection? The answer is negative. What we can get is only one day and two nights which are far from what our Lord Jesus Christ said that He will be three days and three nights in the grave which is seventy two hours to be exact.
Why is it that traditions of men mislead a lot of people that our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified on Good Friday and was resurrected on early Sunday morning?
1. Because of wrong bible interpretation- a lot of people misinterpreted the word “preparation day” as Friday during the week when our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified. Although Friday is called preparation day for the weekly Sabbath, but these people overlooked that there were two Sabbaths during that crucifixion day. Mark:16:1: “And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.” Mark told us that when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him. While Luke 23:54-56 told us that Luke:23:54: “And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on. Luke:23:55: And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid. Luke:23:56: And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment.

Therefore there were two Sabbaths on that crucifixion day one that was past and the other is just coming as the ladies rested according to the commandment. Remember that when our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified it was the preparation day of the Passover, a preparation day of the annual Sabbath, the Feast of the Unleavened Bread. John:19:14: “And it was the preparation of the Passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!” John:19:31: “The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
Clearly, the preparation day in this event was the preparation of the Passover and that the following day was the Feast of the Unleavened Bread which was a “high Sabbath” being the annual Sabbath which happened once a year.

2. The proponent of the Good Friday Crucifixion and Easter Sunday resurrection (The Roman Catholic Church) based almost all their teachings and doctrines from Pagan religion. Thus, Easter Sunday Resurrection was a pagan Festival while Good Friday crucifixion was based from misinterpretation of the Bible particularly the so called “preparation day” which was already explained above.
In reality, our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified, died and buried nearly Sunset on Wednesday, the preparation of the Passover and was resurrected nearly Sunset of the weekly Sabbath, exactly seventy two Hours, as our Lord Jesus Christ had said, as the sign he had given to the doubting Scribes and Pharisees of His Messiahship.
Why is it important to know what day our Lord Jesus Christ crucified, died, buried and resurrected? Because if we believe that our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified, died, buried on Good Friday and resurrected on Easter Sunday, we believe a lie and the Jesus whom we believe that was crucified, died and buried on Good Friday and was resurrected on Easter Sunday, someone may say that the person who was crucified, died and buried on Friday is another Jesus and therefore an imposter. The Apostle Paul has to say about believing another gospel.
Gal:1:8: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Gal:1:9: As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” 2Cor:11:4: “For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”
Friends, It is really a dangerous thing to believe another gospel and accept another Jesus. People who will believe a lie will be condemned. 2Thess:2:10: “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2Thess:2:11: And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 2Thess:2:12: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” Please don’t allow yourself to be condemned for believing a lie.
Furthermore, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ never give a command to observe the day of his resurrection, but asked his disciples, and us also, to remember his death until he comes.
“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.” (1 Cor. 11:23-26)
Lastly, no liar will enter into the Kingdom of God but their part is in the lake of fire. Rev:21:27: “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. Rev:21:8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Friends, it is indeed a grievous mistake to believe a lie because we will end up in the lake of fire. While we still have all the opportunities, please search the Holy Scriptures and you will know the truth and the truth shall makes you free (John 8:32) Free from what? Free from false and wrong doctrine like the Good Friday Crucifixion and Ester Sunday resurrection. May God bless you as you search His holy words, the Bible. Please share this message to your loved ones, relatives, friends, associates, brethren, school mates, office mates and to other people.
Thank you and God Bless.
